DOMESTIC HOT WATER TEMPERATURE TRACECO SELF REGULATING HEATING TAPE The Eltrace range of TRACECO self regulating heating tape is manufactured to exact standards using its own self regulating polymer formulation and state of the art manufacturing technology that has become a benchmark for the industry. TRACECO is manufactured to comply with all European norms and specifications and meets the requirements of Y24sch – Schedule of Trace Heating. The temperature stability of self regulating heating tape is important to the function of a heating system operating continuously at a minimum temperature of 55ºC. TRACECO55W and TRACECO65W can withstand a continuous pipe operating temperature of 80°C (100°C intermittent). Due to the maximum withstand temperatures of TRACECO-W, there is less strain on the self regulating matrix and the life expectancy of the heater is increased. Laboratory tests are able to demonstrate that these heating cables have a lifetime in excess of 25 years. Maximum exposure temperatures of equivalent product on the market are typically only 65°C and 80°C. These systems will be subjected to greater strain when operating continuously at 55ºC and particularly when used to raise temperatures to 60º and above. TRACECO-W has a low self regulating coefficient which provides a greater power output at 100% power when performing temperature raising and thermal disinfection of HWS systems. This enhances the capability of TRACECO-W to provide maximum performance across a specified temperature range. Equivalent product with a higher self regulating coefficient will have a lower power output. The DHB330 has a start up current limiter feature and manual override facility for thermal disinfection. Current consumption by the heating tapes essentially depends on the pipe surface temperature and the ambient temperature. When the pipes are cold, so as not to overload the mains supply, the DHB330 limits the quantity of current absorbed for a maximum of 8 minutes according to each switching on. This feature allows for smaller circuit breakers and supply cables than would be required by alternative systems operating without the DHB330 and the same circuit length. TRACECO-W will raise the water temperature to a minimum temperature of 60ºC but it should be noted that the ability to maintain and raise temperatures to the desired level in a specified time scale is also dependant on pipe size, insulation properties and ambient temperature. This scenario is the same for all self regulating heating tapes.
